Biography

Jaehun Chun is a research scientist in the Chemical Physics & Analysis group in the Physical Sciences Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He is an expert in electrostatics and electrodynamics of micro-structured fluids (e.g., micelles, colloids, biomacromolecules), self-assemblies of nanoparticles and macromolecules, rheology of dense colloidal suspensions, and rarefied gas dynamics. Since joining PNNL as a research scientist in 2008, he has focused on physiochemical hydrodynamics and colloidal suspensions. Chun has 100 papers published in professional journals. He is a member of the multidisciplinary, multi-institutional team called the Interfacial Dynamics in Radioactive Environments and Materials Energy Frontier Research Center.

Research Interest

Energetics and dynamics of various micro-structured fluids (e.g., micelles, colloids, biomacromolecules) over the wide range of length scales, correlating chemical physics at different length scales. Of particular interest are self-assemblies of nanoparticles and macromolecules, underlying electromagnetic forces, and understanding/engineering the physicochemical hydrodynamics of dense colloidal suspensions.
