Biography

Dr. Jefferson serves as the Mathematics for Artificial Reasoning in Science (MARS) Human Factors Thread lead. He also serves as Principle Investigator for the Human Factors Assessment Methodology for Machine Learning with Power Operators project. This project aims to measure cognitive load, reliance, and efficiency when power grid operators use machine learning tools.

Dr. Jefferson is a mathematical psychologist with a special interest in cognitive models and topological data analysis. His experience in using mathematics to model human perception provides a unique point of view in representing large scale data, applying qualitative mathematical modeling to applied domains, and understanding human cognitive factors. His project portfolio includes human-machine teaming metrics, topological data modeling, and studying the real-world robustness of neural networks.
