Sarah Frazar, a PNNL group manager, was recently named to the Board of Trustees for the World Affairs Council of Seattle. Founded in 1951, the Council focuses on advancing global understanding and engagement throughout the Puget Sound region and is closely affiliated with the nation-wide, non-partisan World Affairs Councils of America.

“The council has a history of helping inform others about global issues and fostering engaged, inspired, and connected global citizenry in greater Seattle. I look forward to contributing to that mission,” Frazar said.

Frazar is located at PNNL’s Seattle Research Center where she manages the Global Security Technology and Policy group, a team specializing in national security policy, training, stakeholder engagement, and technology integration. Previously, as a project manager and account manager at PNNL, she led projects focusing on nuclear safeguards policy and engagement while exploring the policy implications of PNNL’s technical solutions, focusing specifically on the impact of emerging technologies on U.S. government nonproliferation missions. Before joining PNNL in 2008, Frazar worked in a variety of positions focusing on national security, including as a federal manager at the National Nuclear Security Administration, an investigative reporter and development director at a nonprofit news organization, and researcher at a national security-oriented non-profit.

In her first year term on this prestigious board, Frazar will share insights and perspectives on a variety national security issues while enabling PNNL experts to support World Affairs Council events and activities.
