PNNL supports virtual strategic trade controls seminar with U.S., Philippines
Approximately 64 officials from the United States and Philippines collaborated virtually to strengthen strategic trade controls at a fully virtual seminar held earlier this year. Staff members at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) led the planning and coordination of the multi-day meeting in support of the International Nonproliferation Export Control Program.
The web-based Strategic Trade Control Enforcements (STCE) Investigations seminar was hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Nonproliferation and Arms Control, with involvement from the U.S. Department of State’s Export Control and Border Security program.
Participants from both countries gathered for the interactive online seminar to discuss and identify strategies for developing an effective national STCE system in the Philippines. Presenters included experts in enforcement procedures, criminal and administrative investigations, and interagency coordination and communication.
The event was attended by representatives from the 10 Philippine governmental agencies. Officials from the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Homeland Security, and Justice also took part in the seminar.
The collaboration was featured in a recent edition of DNN Sentinel, a publication of the NNSA. Read the full story here.
