Congratulations to Anthony J. (AJ) Krzysko, IDREAM early career member and graduate student at Washington State University (WSU), on participating in the National School for Neutron and X-Ray Scattering, a competitive opportunity for early career scientists. At the school, Krzysko focused on the principles of scattering theory and participated in hands-on work at the beamlines at three DOE Office of Science user facilities. Krzysko and his colleagues spent a week at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois and a week at the High Flux Isotope Reactor and Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.

"The most valuable part of the school was being able to network with experts in the field who were more than willing to interact with us," said Krzysko. The scientists shared their insights on the beamline, experiment design, and applying to use the instruments.

Attending NXS is just one Krzysko's honors. Upon entering graduate school, he was awarded a fellowship from the WSU Radiochemistry Traineeship Program, which is funded through DOE's Office of Environmental Management. In addition, Krzysko was selected as a distinguished graduate in the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory-WSU Distinguished Graduate Program.
