Location: Washington State University Tri-Cities, CIC Room 120
About the Series
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and Washington State University Tri-Cities (WSU-TC) are teaming to host a speaker series dedicated to educating stakeholders, the community, and other interested individuals and organizations about what it takes to successfully build a research park. Speakers, experienced in developing research parks across the country, will share their experiences in locating federal funding and investors, recruiting tenants, and collaborating with universities, national laboratories, and technology interests.
Who's the speaker?
Ron Kysiak, from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, will be the third speaker in the series. Ron served as executive director of the Northwestern University/Evanston Research Park from its inception in 1986 through 2001. That year he became executive vice president and CEO until the Park's completion in 2006. Ron will share his experience in developing a research park in close collaboration with a city.
Under Ron's leadership, Northwestern University successfully partnered with the City of Evanston on all aspects of developing the park - including establishment of funding mechanisms, demolishing and rebuilding facilities, relocating businesses to the park, managing construction of a significant parking structure, and developing incubator space. His experience demonstrates that involving municipalities can lead to greater success in building a research park.
There is no charge to attend this event; however you must pre-register by Thursday, January 8, 2009. Light reception to immediately follow.
