Governor Chris Gregoire has appointed Egils Milbergs director of the newly formed Economic Development Commission for Washington State. Milbergs was selected through a joint process involving the governor and the Economic Development Commission.
Egils Milbergs is founder and president of the Center for Accelerating Innovation. The Center conducts research on the changing nature of the innovation process and consults with start-ups, corporations, associations and governments on growth acceleration strategies. Milbergs played a principal role in the National Innovation Initiative and the Innovation Vital Signs project of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
He held previous positions as president of the National Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing, Deputy Assistant Secretary for productivity, technology and innovation at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Executive Director of President's Commission on Industrial Competitiveness.
