Summer Research Institute Location
The Summer Research Institute is held at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the William R. Wiley Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), which are located in north Richland, Washington. The nearest airport is the Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco. Richland and Pasco along with Kennewick make up the metropolitan area known as the Tri-Cities. These three cities are located in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains and near the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima Rivers, giving the area 300 days of sunshine a year.
