Biography

Rahul Zaveri is a chemical engineer with a wide range of research experience including assessment of transport, transformation, and fate of energy-related emissions. His expertise is in developing and applying multiphase gas-aerosol-cloud chemistry models in the analysis of field and laboratory measurements to solve complex atmospheric chemistry problems.

Dr. Zaveri is the scientific lead in the development of computationally efficient gas and aerosol modules, CBM-Z and MOSAIC, which have been implemented in PNNL’s Eulerian model PEGASUS and the next-generation fully-coupled meteorology-chemistry model WRF-Chem. He has also participated in several major field studies focused on the formation and transport of ozone and aerosol in the United States and Mexico, which have included both airborne and ground based measurements. He has developed a pre-flight and real-time aircraft flight planning program, and was the technical lead in the design and execution of two Lagrangian aircraft studies of transport and evolution of aerosols and oxidants from large urban areas.
