Voluntary Protection Program All-Staff Celebration Party

Wednesday, September 5, 2001

We hope that our staff had a wonderful time at the all-staff party on Wednesday, September 5, 2001! Held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the VPP Steering Committee served up 1,188 Ryder's sausage dogs, chips, pop, and Schwan's ice cream. The weather cooperated nicely, and the Battelle Staff Association picnic grounds proved the perfect venue for such a celebration. Thank you again to all PNNL staff -- without your commitment to safety and health, PNNL could not have achieved Gold Star status.

A crowd gathers quickly -- luckily the line went fast!

The line remained steady for the entire two hours of the event. The Steering Committee was glad to see that!

"Spicy or mild?" asks Roby Enge, ES&H Director. Roby manned one of three sausage dog stations at the September 5 event.

VPP Steering Committee member Frank Bittrick (left) and co-chair Vern Madson hand out chips to the hungry crowd.

With the VPP flag in the background, staff gather around to enjoy the delicious fare.
Nearly 1,188 staff turned out to enjoy the party.

Dr. Powell poses with the flag and the certificate.
