Vern Madson reported that this year’s conference, held in Orlando, consisted of 100 workshops and brought in 1860 attendees. PNNL was awarded a Superior Star Award for its health and safety program. Approximately 100 people attended the presentation by Vern, Pat Wright, Russ Meicenheimer, Nancy Isern, and Elwood Lepel on preparing for the onsite review. Vern reported that the presentation was well accepted by the audience,
Vern reported that representatives from Lawrence Livermore visited PNNL on Monday, September 23, and Tuesday, September 24 as part of the PNNL VPP mentoring process. PNNL VPP Steering Committee members will stay in close contact with the contingency to assist them with their VPP process.
Pat Wright led a presentation on the possibility of the VPP Steering Committee purchasing defibrillator units for the Lab. The presentation included a movie about the benefits and use of the units. A subcommittee will be established to determine a project plan for purchasing the units. Once developed, the plan will be presented to the Leadership Team for support and potential funding.
Vern reported that PNNL’s annual safety and health program self-assessment is expected to start in mid-November. Janice Haney was assigned to help the CH2M Hill Hanford Group team, and Drue Collins will help the Hanford Site Operations team.
Larry Musen reported that a DOE VPP 101 Class will be held at HAMMER on November 19.
Vern reported that the new posters are now up in each PNNL building.
Drue Collins reported that work towards the cards is currently in progress.
Nancy Isern reported that work on the charter is in progress, and that the charter was sent out to the charter subcommittee for review a few days earlier.
John Reck reported that planning for the Expo, to be held April 30 –
May 3, 2003, is under way.
