VPP Awareness Plan
Vern Madson reported that DOE-RL has been reviewing our application and noted that we are weak regarding VPP awareness by the R&D staff. Nancy Isern explained that we need a good awareness campaign, and explained the committee actions to resolve this issue, including
Vern reported that he verified with Don Allen of the PNNL mailroom that we have enough envelopes and labels for all staff. Once we receive the cards and ice scrapers, we will have an "envelope stuffing party" hopefully during the first week of December.
Governer's Safety Conference
The Governer's Safety Conference, a 1-day conference, was held at the end of September in Spokane. John Reck and Mark Shear attended. John mainly attended to get ideas for the Safety Expo.
Halloween Party
Russ Meicenheimer announced that the childrens' Halloween Party is to be held October 21. VPP will be providing stickers, glowsticks, and, courtesy of Drue Collin's wife, the ADA is providing toothbrushes. Chocolate coins will also be provided to the adults. VPP will operate its booth from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Russ indicated that last year, we ran out of glowsticks.
ISM Conference
Vern reported that the ISM Conference will be held December 5 - 6, 2000, at the Doubletree Hotel in Pasco. Gary Lyons of PNNL contacted Vern and Todd Hart to attend. Ninety-eight spots have been reserved for PNNL staff to attend. Vern asked the Steering Committee members to consider attending.
