Minutes from June 7, 2001 VPP Steering Committee Meeting

VPP Steering Committee Meeting
Thursday, June 7, 2001
ISB-1 White Bluffs Room

The meeting commenced at 2:30 p.m.

Budget

Russ Meicenheimer reported that the budget is mostly spent, but the committee still has enough to generate the Porcelain Press through the the rest of the year and to send four people to the national conference in New Orleans this August.

Onsite Review

Although it was "old news" to the committee, Vern Madson reported that following the onsite review, Roy Gibbs recommended PNNL for STAR status. Final confirmation should arrive in July.

Safety Expo

John Reck reported excellent coverage and participant responses at this year's Expo. John presented awards to Roby Enge, Peggy Williams, and Karla Gaither from the Expo "Dog Pound" for the shirts they purchased in support of the Expo.

Region X Conference

A couple ideas were resurrected from the Region X conference held earlier this year: (1) the action tracking system that was discussed at the 2000 conference, and (2) safety forms that need to be signed by the person submitting the concern. This item would assure that the hazard is mitigated to acceptable levels.

Subcommittees

Four subcommittees were formed: (1) A VPP STAR recognition celebration committee (SK Sundaram, Drue Collins, Russ Meicenheimer, and LaVon Clement); (2) a PNNL VPP Charter Committee (Cliff Wynn, Nancy Isern, Drue Collins, John Reck, Todd Hart, and Janice Haney); (3) a VPP Budget committee (John Reck, Alice Ver Steeg, Vern Madson, Janice Haney, Rich Garretson, Russ Meicenheimer, and Pat Wright); and (4) a VPP Program Description committee for the Standards-Based Management System (Russ Meicenheimer, Nancy Isern, John Reck, and Pat Wright).

Action Tracking Log

An action tracking log will be implemented to keep track of VPP efforts and provide closeout of actions. Drue Collins will keep the log. Six onsite review action items will be rolled into the log.

Meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
