VPP Involvement at the Laboratory

For the past couple of years, VPP steering committee members have participated in activities throughout the Laboratory. For example, our members (especially one very large M&M) manned a booth at the annual childrens' Halloween party, where safety-related items such as glow sticks were handed out.

Another activity that VPP has participated in, but outside of the Laboratory, is the annual Hanford Health and Safety Expo held in May at the Trade, Agriculture, and Recreation facility in Pasco, Washington. VPP steering committee members work the booth in shifts (see left photo), handing out safety awards to passerby and discussing safety at home and work. PNNL staff also participated in the Expo, as Mark Shear demonstrates by winning first place in the forklift rodeo in 2001 (see right photo).
