Biography

Sean Kreyling is the division director for the Emerging Threats and Technologies Division and has over 25 years of professional experience in fields related to national security. Sean has led technical teams working at the intersection of science, technology, and policy in areas like cryptocurrency forensics, encrypted networks, and analysis of publicly available, open-source information.

In his previous role at PNNL, Sean was the group leader for the Mission Alignment Group, leading a group of senior technical and strategic advisors, which served as a division-level advisory body to help refine and execute strategy. Sean also provided on-site leadership presence in the Seattle office and partners with the other leaders in the former Computing and Analytics Division to support their Seattle-based staff. and directly supported the National Security Directorate’s Chief Science & Technology Officer, assisting in the establishment of the directorate’s scientific vision and strategy. Prior to joining PNNL, Sean worked for the Boeing Company and served for over a decade in the U.S. Army.

Sean holds an MPA from Harvard University, a BA in International Relations from the University of Delaware, and an ATA in Information Security and Digital Forensics from Edmonds Community College. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) and general member of the Association for Computing Machinery. Previously, he was an elected member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, a Fellow at the World Affairs Council in Seattle, and a technical consultant to the Seattle Police Department.
