Biography

Sara Hunt is a Commercialization Manager located in the Seattle office. In this role, Sara is responsible for identifying promising technologies, overseeing technology development and demonstration, securing intellectual property assets, marketing novel technologies, and negotiating business terms to transfer the technology out of PNNL and into commercial products and services. 

Her technology portfolio includes advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, energy efficiency and environmental monitoring. In addition to her technology commercialization portfolio, Sara develops and leads entrepreneurial training programs for scientists and engineers, including Energy I-Corps,  pitch coaching, and lean start-up methodology. Sara also serves as a judge for business plan competitions and technology showcases hosted by regional universities and their partners.

Prior to joining PNNL in 2016, Sara was a contractor at the Department of Energy and focused on technology-to-market activities for a variety of renewable energy and energy-efficiency programs. Sara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a Master of Science degree in Energy Policy and Climate Science from Johns Hopkins University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the University of Washington. She is a member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES), Battelle Commercialization Council, and the DOE Technology Transfer Working Group.
