Mechanical Engineer, Computational Structural Mechanics
Mechanical Engineer, Computational Structural Mechanics

Biography

Nick Klymyshyn is a mechanical engineer in the Computational Structural Mechanics Team of the Experimental and Computational Engineering Group. His technical expertise is in structural mechanics and finite element analysis, which he uses to support DOE and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in their work related to the nuclear power industry, spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation, and energy-efficient vehicle technologies. Nick is an active mentor and frequently participates in the DOE Office of Science SULI—Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships—program, which brings in undergraduates for a 10-week summer internship at a national laboratory. Nick is also active in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and helps organize the yearly Pressure Vessel and Piping conference, in the topic area of storage and transportation of radioactive and other hazardous materials.
