Lindsey Gehrig joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in September 2015 and currently is an advisor in Threat Prevention and Resilience group in the Emerging Threats and Technologies division. Prior to that, Gehrig worked abroad for organizations in London and China before moving to Washington, DC, to complete her master’s degree in international affairs with a focus on US foreign policy.

Upon completion of her degree, Gehrig was accepted into what is now the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Graduate Fellowship Program. During and after her fellowship, she worked for different programs in the NNSA Office of Nonproliferation and Arms Control, including the International Nuclear Security program and the International Nuclear Safeguards Engagement program. Gehrig’s primary area of responsibility involved bilateral engagement with foreign partners to develop the procedures, programs, systems, and expertise necessary to sustainably implement effective physical protection and safeguards regimes. 

Since joining PNNL, Gehrig continues to focus on nonproliferation policy and support NNSA programs. Her portfolio includes nuclear security, nuclear safeguards, arms control, nonproliferation policy, and climate security. She recently became a founding member and laboratory lead of NNSA’s Nuclear Security Women Initiative. Working actively with international organizations and foreign partners, the initiative promotes the visibility, opportunity, and representation of women around the world in all aspects of nuclear security.
