Biography

Dr. Eric Walter is a chemist with the Isotope and Chemical Analysis team in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program. Walter is the contact for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). He assists EMSL users in applying both EPR and in situ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to diverse fields, such as geochemistry, bio-catalysis, metalloproteins, and naturally occurring free-radicals.

Research Interest

  • In situ and operando magnetic resonance—Walter has developed numerous in situ sample cells for continuous flow, high pressure, and simultaneous electrochemistry for both EPR and NMR.
  • Walter has applied high performance, pulsed EPR spectroscopy to natural systems, such as soils and metalloproteins.
