Biography

Dhruv Bhatnagar is a senior energy systems research engineer based in Portland, OR. He leads projects related to the integration of emerging energy technologies across technical, economic valuation, equity, and regulatory perspectives. This includes efforts on long-term planning for energy storage, resilience, and clean energy planning for underserved communities, grid infrastructure requirements for electric vehicles, valuation and planning for marine energy and offshore wind resources, innovative contracting approaches to geothermal development, and financial and regulatory challenges to pumped storage and long duration storage development.

Prior to joining PNNL, Bhatnagar was a program manager in the Demand Response Group at Hawaiian Electric Company. He has also worked as a regulatory analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU), where he advised the Commission on emerging grid technologies. Before working at DPU, Bhatnagar was an energy systems engineer at Sandia National Laboratories in the departments of Energy Storage and Power Systems Research.
