Biography

Dr. Ayoub Soulami is a senior computational materials scientist and team leader for the Materials Dynamics team in the Energy and Environment Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. His research focuses on understanding inter-relationships between microstructure, processing, and material performance using Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) tools—and thus maintaining strong collaboration with experimental and characterization teams.

His interests include multiscale modeling, constitutive behavior of metals, and alloys subjected to various industrial processes, such as sheet metal forming, joining, extrusion, rolling, and solid phase processing. His current work focuses on applying the mechanics and materials basic principles in solving practical engineering problems, including projects on modeling of joining, solid phase processing, and the development of ICME and machine learning tools to guide material development and processing.

He is currently leading projects and tasks with funding predominantly from the Solid Phase Processing Science Initiative, the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Vehicle Technology Office, and the National Nuclear Security Administration.
