The 2007 Micro Nano Breakthrough Conference is scheduled for September 10 to 12th in Portland Oregon. The theme for this years meeting is "Science to Commercialization for the Micro/Nano Tech Economy." This meeting is organized by the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnology Institute and involves considerable interaction and support form organizations throughout the Northwest.

The 54th American Vacuum Society International Symposium and exhibition is scheduled in Seattle Washington for October 14 to 19. As noted in the call for papers, Nano Science and Technology is a prevailing theme of this meeting. As one moves to nanoscale materials and processes, surface and interface properties play a dominant role. Consequently, it is no surprise that more than three quarters of the program encompasses various aspects of Nano Science and Technology. For two decades the AVS has been one of the premier venues for Nano programming. Abstracts for this meeting are due on May 16.

The 12th Topical Conference on Quantitative Surface Analysis (QSA12) will be held in Bellevue Washington on October 12 and 13 as a satellite meeting to the AVS Symposium. This small conference focuses on issues related to that analysis of surface and small (nano) materials. This meeting encourages the mixing of experts, students and new technique users and examines advances is established techniques and applications of new methods. The format of this meeting is Gordon Conference style to encourage lots of discussion. All speakers are invited, but there will be a contributed poster session.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Washington State University and the University of Washington are holding a course Nanoclusters, Nanomaterials, and Nanotechnologies Phys 581 (WSU, 3 credits); UW MSE 498/599 (3 credits) Spring 2007 (May 14-25), Richland, Washington.
