Graduate Internship
These positions will support a range of theoretical and applied research geared toward solving important national security problems that include homeland security, proliferation detection, and arms control. These positions will support the National Security Directorate's mission outcome. One or more of the following positions may be available depending on funding and availability, as well as applicant skills and interests:
- Nondestructive Evaluations
- Radiation Detection and Nuclear Science
- Electronic Design
- Software Development for Electronic Systems
- Trace Chemical Analysis
- Biological Detection and Forensics
- Nuclear Engineering
- Radiochemistry and Nuclear Forensics
- Software Engineering
- Statistical Analyst
- Nonproliferation Analyst
The successful applicant may have the opportunity to assist in laboratory experiments, perform theoretical analysis, perform numerical calculations, or assist in project management issues as part of the internship.
Qualifications include working towards a Master or PhD in the following fields:
- Nuclear Engineering
- Nuclear Science
- Material Science
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Math
- Biology
- or related Science and Engineering fields.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to obtain a future security clearance.
Evaluation of candidates for summer 2008 internship positions will begin February 1, 2008. Application deadline for summer 2008 internship consideration is April 30, 2008.
