PNNL welcomes new communications leader

RICHLAND, Wash.—Jacqueline S. Fernette has been named deputy director of communications at the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Fernette's responsibilities will be to assist in expanding the Laboratory's regional and national image, as well as supporting technology and commercialization business strategies. She will be responsible for the laboratory's Media & External Communications, staff and community relations, and marketing communications groups.

Fernette brings to the laboratory a strong record of experience in corporate communications and expertise in both high-tech industry and chemical manufacturing. Most recently, she served as director of corporate communications with the high-tech consulting firm, PSINet, in Houston, Texas. Prior to that, she was vice president of Global Communications for DA Consulting Group Inc., also in Houston.

Fernette earned her bachelor's degree in political science and master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is a DOE research facility and delivers breakthrough science and technology in the areas of environment, energy, health, fundamental sciences and national security. It currently has an annual operating budget of more than $500 million and employs approximately 3,600 staff members.
