RICHLAND, Wash. – Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has been named Region 6 Large Company of the Year by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for 2004. Region 6 covers the western United States, from Alaska to California, representing more than 56,000 of IEEE’s 350,000 international members.
Past winners of this honor include Chevron Texaco and Southern California Edison.
PNNL is being honored for outstanding contributions to engineering, community service and support of technical societies.
"We are honored to receive this award," said Donald M. Boyd, PNNL's deputy director for operations, "professional societies such as IEEE are a vital part of our technical base, and an award like this is greatly appreciated by our management and staff."
In the course of the evaluation process, PNNL also was named Large Company of the Year for the Northwest Area of Region 6. Boyd will accept the award on PNNL's behalf at the IEEE Region 6 Awards luncheon on September 22 in Anaheim, Calif.
