Wendy Shaw assumes role on the Advisory Board of a Royal Society of Chemistry Journal
Wendy Shaw joined the Advisory Board of Chemical Society Reviews, a review-article focused journal published by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Wendy Shaw, the Chief Science and Technology Officer of the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), joined the Advisory Board for Chemical Society Reviews. Shaw began her two-year term in January 2023.
Published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, Chemical Society Reviews focuses on reviewing articles on topics across chemistry. The journal publishes “high-impact, authoritative and reader-friendly review articles covering important topics at the forefront of the chemical sciences.”
“I’ve been a long-time reader of Chemical Society Reviews,” said Shaw. “They consistently publish thorough and impactful review articles on topics that matter. I’m excited to help fill gaps in the literature with high-quality reviews.”
In her Advisory Board role, Shaw will help identify themes for special issues, potential review topics, and assess proposals for new review articles. She brings a broad perspective from both her personal research and her research management roles.
Shaw’s research draws inspiration from nature to understand and develop new materials and catalysts. More specifically, her work seeks to understand what role proteins play in biomineralization and how to mimic enzyme functions in man-made energy-relevant catalysts. Recent efforts include a focus on closing the carbon cycle and exploring the fundamental science needed to support achieving net-zero carbon emissions in fields that are difficult to electrify.
Shaw is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Washington State Academy of Sciences. As Chief Science and Technology Officer, Shaw helps develop and guide research strategy for the directorate.
