Energy storage experts from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will participate in the 2018 Annual Meeting for the International Coalition for Energy Storage and Innovation(Offsite link)—or ICESI. The meeting will take place January 16 – 19 in Dalian, China.

Jun Liu, director of the Department of Energy’s Battery500 Consortium, will serve as the meeting chair, while Wei Wang, a senior scientist who leads stationary energy storage research and development at PNNL, will be the meeting’s general secretary.

In addition to Liu and Wang, PNNL’s Vincent Sprenkle—leader of PNNL’s energy storage research and development—is a member of the meeting’s organizing committee. Sprenkle and Wang are also invited speakers at the meeting. Keynote speakers will include Jud Virden, PNNL’s Associate Laboratory Director for Energy and Environment.

The ICESI is a new international professional organization that focuses on science and technology challenges for grid-scale energy and renewable energy integration. The organization provides a forum for the research community and industry to address long-term challenges for developing and deploying scalable energy storage technologies for electric grid and emerging market applications. ICESI also serves as the authority and advocator for supporting energy storage research.
