O’Neil Elected Vice Chair of Global Cybersecurity Association
PNNL cybersecurity expert to advance profession as (ISC)2 board officer

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) cybersecurity expert Lori Ross O’Neil is helping shape the cybersecurity profession as the newly elected vice chairperson of the board of directors of (ISC)2, a global leader in the training and certification of cybersecurity professionals.
(ISC)2—the International Information System Security Certification Consortium— is the world’s largest nonprofit association of cybersecurity professionals. The organization’s over 150,000 members work across the globe in cyber, information, software, IT, and infrastructure security.
“I’m honored to serve the (ISC)2 membership as vice chair of the board of directors in 2021,” O’Neil said. “I’m looking forward to continuing to grow the cybersecurity profession globally by sharing (ISC)2 benefits and opportunities, as well as encouraging everyone to take a greater responsibility for cyber in their personal and work lives.”
O’Neil was elected to a three-year term on the (ISC)2 board of directors in 2019 and served as board secretary in 2020. As vice chairperson, O’Neil helps lead the 13-member board in the governance and oversight of the international association. Board members also grant (ISC)² certifications, which are recognized as the gold standard of the industry.
O’Neil is a cybersecurity engineer with over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and information technology. In her current role in PNNL’s Computing and Analytics Division, O’Neil leads multidisciplinary cybersecurity projects in pursuit of novel approaches to protect our critical national infrastructure, including the electric grid.
