In a new video series, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is highlighting six scientific and technical experts in the national security domain throughout the fall. Each was promoted to scientist and engineer level 5, one of PNNL’s most senior research roles, earlier this year and has made significant contributions to the national security science, technology, and innovations developed at PNNL.

Ken Geelhood is a nuclear engineer who is studying how the challenging conditions of a nuclear reactor affect the reliability of fuel.

“There is a continuing push in the nuclear industry to extend the life of nuclear reactors, to push the fuel harder, and to burn the fuel longer,” said Geelhood.
