Available Information and Data

The Fitzner/Eberhardt Arid Lands Ecology Reserve and the encompassing Research Park have provided the foundation for several long-term ecological studies. While the data collected from these studies were designed to answer specific research questions, the length and consistency of the records enable the data to be used to answer broader questions relating to the maintenance of species, environmental restoration, and land management.

Data sets include:

  • long-term monitoring records of nesting Canadian geese, spawning salmon, bald eagles, nesting Buteo hawks, insects, and elk
  • environmental monitoring of air, surface water, soil, groundwater, wildlife, and fish since 1945
  • species lists of vascular plants, fish, mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data sets of sensitive species distributions
  • primary production estimates for serial plant communities on abandoned, formerly cultivated fields and natural plant communities

The data are available in topical sets. A detailed description of the data can be found on the topics listed below. Other data sets will be offered as funding becomes available.

Shrike Study: Study conducted from 1988 - 1989

Canada Goose Nesting: Study conducted from 1950 thru present

Salmon Count: Study conducted from 1948 thru present

Hanford Vegetation Map: Site map showing vegetation types.
