Secure Cyber Systems
Secure Cyber Systems works in partnership with government agencies and industry to perform research and development (R&D) to deliver "first of a kind" solutions to protect critical strategic assets. Adversaries are well coordinated and extremely intelligent in their cyber security attacks, and proactive measures help to deter these attacks.
PNNL, in partnership with DOE, is investing in a new Information and Infrastructure Integrity Initiative (I4) to meet the growing demand for security to be "designed into" the system rather than added in reaction to system failure. The I4 approach develops and maintains computing systems and infrastructures that are inherently able to respond to and defend themselves against internal and external threats.
Current R&D efforts are focused in the following key areas:
- Critical Infrastructure Assessment and Protection
- Cryptographic Trust Management
- Cyber Analytics: Detection and Discovery
- Information Operations and Systems Exploitation
- Large-Scale Situational Awareness
- Modeling and Simulation of Complex Systems and Networks
