Information Analytics
The mission of the Information Analytics group is to provide strategic value to our clients by discovering, developing and deploying innovative visual analytics technologies that enable timely and profound insights from complex data. The goal is to stimulate analytical insight from massive, dynamic, ambiguous, and often conflicting information; to detect the expected and discover the unexpected; to provide timely and defensible assessments; and to communicate assessments effectively for action.
Key problems addressed by the group include:
- Enabling rapid analysis and discovery of insights from complex data that encompass multiple dimensions, sources, data forms, time variants, languages and/or cultures
- Supporting application of human judgment to make the best possible use of incomplete, inconsistent and potentially deceptive information in the face of rapidly changing situations
Group members have diverse expertise in various fields of science, engineering and fine arts, with a passion for serving client missions. We team with our clients to bring experience and expertise in conducting applied research and developing novel analytic algorithms, software tools and systems for the visual analysis of information. We have deployed technologies in domains such as national security, energy grid security, pharmaceutical development, environmental safety, training applications and law enforcement.
Examples of our track record for turning novel research into deployable, commercially licensed and award winning software products include IN-SPIRE™ and Starlight. Our international leadership in the field of visual analytics is exemplified through the National Visualization and Analytics Center™ that we operate for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
