The Radiochemical Analysis group offers world-class radioanalytical capabilities with a staff of over 45 highly qualified individuals with extensive experience in radiochemical separations and trace mass spectrometric detection. Utilizing state-of-art facilities and instruments the Radiochemical Analysis Group works in close coordination with the Nuclear Materials Analysis Group to provide our customers with trusted results.
We specialize in providing unique analytical services but also use our expertise in basic science, method, and instrument development to enhance and advance the services provided to our customers. We want to ensure that we continue to provide the best possible solutions for our customers, which drives the group for continued advancement of the current state-of-the-art. We also are able to utilize the skills of others by partnerships with universities, industry, and other national labs. In so doing, we ensure that we continue to grow and mature.
Scientific Spectrum of Capability
Our staff use highly developed processes, specialized methods, and state-of-the-art equipment to perform work that spans the spectrum of basic science to unique analytical services. Much of the analytical services work that is performed requires measuring radionuclides at trace levels. Using our expertise in radiochemical separations, it is possible to enhance the measurement of radionuclides by reducing the background. Combined with extensive spectroscopic measurement and instrument development expertise in the Nuclear Materials Analysis Group, we are able to further enhance our detection capabilities to lower and lower levels of the radionuclides of interest.
RA Group staff research is primarily focused in two areas:
- Basic research leading to innovative radiochemical separations and method development as well as new instrument development.
- Analytical services that provide state-of-the-art and one-of-a-kind results to national security clients.
