The DHS S&T Test and Evaluation and Standards Division provides technical support and coordination to assist the nation's emergency responders in the acquisition of equipment, procedures and mitigation processes that are safe, reliable and effective and assists in the development and adoption of incident management standards to ensure first responders are using the most current, safe and interoperable methods.

In support of this, PNNL's provides these capabilities:

  • Technology assessment/identification
  • Demonstrations
  • Incident management standards development
  • Experimental design for decontamination
  • Establish performance criteria and test protocols for instruments
  • Evaluation of radiation detection devices and standards
  • Environmental simulations.
