Marty Peterson, P.E. is a Technical Group Manager for Secure Cyber Systems at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He manages multidisciplinary teams of experts — drawing on more than 100 researchers and staff who specialize in cyber security — to innovate breakthrough methods and tools that tackle daunting challenges for science, homeland, and national security missions.

Major clients include Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and numerous national security intelligence agencies.

Peterson joined PNNL in 1986 as an electrical engineer. He designed and installed one of the first all fiber optics research networks, and has extensive communications design/engineering experience.

Peterson has held several management positions — from Division Director to Program Manager. As the Division Director for Information Sciences & Engineering, Marty was responsible for 160 staff that developed first-of-a-kind systems for government clients. As Associate Director for the Environmental & Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), he was responsible for scientific computing and also managed a "Top 5" Supercomputing Center focused on chemistry and environmental modeling.

Peterson has served on numerous Lab-level initiatives and committees. He was also a member of Battelle's first Technical Research Council. Battelle's Chief Technology Officer recognized Marty as the "Technical Network Leader of the Year".
