Environment

With more and more people placing demands on natural resources, it is important to be able to monitor the quality of our air, water, and land. Microtechnology is making it possible to have better and more information. We develop microproducts with sensors to monitor the level of pollutants in waste gases, liquids, and solids. We also build devices for measuring the quality of the air we breathe and the water we drink.

Microdevices provide attractive solutions to some environmental restoration problems. They can be used to treat liquid or gaseous wastes. If the wastes are distributed, then compact chemical separations sytems can be deployed at the locations of concern. For instance, devices can be located at depth for in situ clean-up of groundwater.
