Microheat pumps can be distributed throughout the building. For instance, they could be included in the walls or ceiling during construction. This distributed approach would allow selected rooms or even parts of rooms to be heated or cooled as needed.
Microchannel combustors could also be distributed throughout buildings to provide localized sources of heat. In this way, highly efficient heat exchangers are used to heat only the areas required. This can provide significant savings.
