FEDS 5.0.1 Service Update Information
This FEDS 5.0.1 service update to release 5.0 is being made available to address a number of minor problems discovered in FEDS release 5.0 as well as to provide additional and enhanced features. You must have FEDS 5.0 installed on your computer in order to install this update. Note that as a result of these updates, your FEDS results may change slightly and it is recommended that you re-run any case that you are currently working on upon installing the updates. The FEDS 5.0.1 update includes and addresses the following items:
Data Updates:
- Includes latest (2004) DOE discount rate and energy escalation rates
- Completely updated format of on-line help system (FEDS user's guide)
- A PDF-formatted version of the FEDS User's Guide now installed with the update (into your main FEDS directory)
- Added more retrofit options for all baseline exit sign types
- Updated exit sign costs for light panel exit signs (and changed name to include "electroluminescent")
- Updated labor hours for all exit sign projects
- Changed name of high efficiency (condensing) gas furnaces from "Conventional" to "Condensing"
Misc. Bug Fixes:
- Fixed error sometimes caused by starting a case without hitting "Create new case" and then selecting "Save case as" option
- Fixed save-done button operation from use area inputs of dual-use building set (was not always saving data prior to exiting screen)
- Fixed issue of keyboard's Num/Caps/Scroll Locks acting to permanently lock drop-down list inputs on record type input screens
- Fixed the occasional occurrence of service hot water equipment type and system type mismatch error
- Fixed use-area 2 miscellaneous equipment consumption calculation error
Enhanced Inferences:
- Improved heat equipment inferences based on duct status of cool technology
- Improved inference for paired technologies using central fuels
- Limited inferred height of military building types to no more than 3 floors (except hospitals)
- Reduced lighting utilization default for storage building type
- Linked inferences for floor-floor and floor-ceiling height inputs
- Changed occupant number inference for residential buildings by implementing a maximum value of 4 per occupancy unit
- Improved inferences related to presence of faucet aerators and low-flow showerheads for military building types (similar to current inference data for civilian types)
- Improved service hot water tank insulation thickness and R-value inferences
Modeling Enhancements:
- Improved modeling of evaporative cooling and ventilation-only scenarios
- Added retrofit exit sign kits to retrofit restriction options
- Improved formatting of optimization status indicator (estimated time remaining)
- Added a number of warning messages to the user interface to help prevent input errors
