Available Upgrades

Updates to the FEDS 6.0 software are provided for download here and contain a number of important data updates, enhancements and corrections. Many of the changes (such as new energy escalation rates) will have significant impacts on your analyses and it is therefore highly recommended to download and install the latest update as soon as possible. Updates are cumulative and contain all previous enhancements so it is only necessary to install the latest version. Key changes in this and all previous updates are noted below.

FEDS 6.0.4 Update

Key changes in FEDS 6.0.4 include the following:

  1. New 2011 energy escalation rate projections from EIA and NIST
  2. Updated inferences for select window characteristics and chiller type classification
  3. Updated ventilation fan motor capacity inference for buildings with no heating or cooling but ventilation present
  4. Fix to rare savings allocation issue related to replacement of central energy plant service with building level heat pump systems
  5. Other minor corrections and enhancements

FEDS 6.0.3 Update

Key changes in FEDS 6.0.3 include the following:

  1. New 2010 energy escalation rate projections from EIA and NIST
  2. Updated fluorescent lighting retrofits; including expanded Super-T8 retrofit options
  3. Improved construction type, occupant, and HVAC inferences for residential building types
  4. Updates to HVAC sizing calculations
  5. Window film retrofit correction
  6. Updated sales tax rates
  7. Fixes to thermal loop abandonment criteria and the allocation of cost savings associated with heat pumps replacing district heating and cooling
  8. Fix to calculation of dual-fuel heat pump crossover temperature under complex time-of-day electric rates
  9. User interface enhancements
  10. Other minor corrections and enhancements

FEDS 6.0.2 Update

Key changes in FEDS 6.0.2 include the following:

  1. Improved thermal loop inference generation
  2. Updated construction and geometry inferences for large admin buildings
  3. Fixes an issue where extremely long case path/file names caused error upon 'Save-as'
  4. Identification of copied building sets in the building set ID
  5. Fix to a problem that prevented cooling and service hot water 'Source Loop' lists from populating at minimum set
  6. Fix to a problem in which a hot water tech served by a central fuel would not retrofit when it should under a unique set of conditions (dual use where one UA has showers and the other does not)
  7. Output report formatting improvements
  8. Other minor corrections and enhancements

FEDS 6.0.1 Update

Key changes in FEDS 6.0.1 include the following:

  1. New 2009 energy escalation rate projections from EIA and NIST
  2. New weather data for locations in Japan
  3. Fix to a problem that prevented a handful of existing weather data files from operating properly (e.g., weather cities with names that contain an apostrophe)
  4. Correction to the energy escalation rates used for locations in Quebec, Canada
  5. Minor updates to text within the user interface and help system and updates to range tests for better clarification of requested inputs
  6. Improved technology inferences
  7. Fix to life-cycle costing module error that resulted in miscalculation of select economic parameters under a rare combination of circumstances
  8. Improved handling of inputs and model behavior related to the specification of multiple heating and cooling technologies serving a portion of each building in the building set
  9. Fix to the handling and calculation of emissions associated with central energy plants and thermal loops that serve other central energy plants
  10. Fix to energy consumption reporting for motors operating under seasonal utilization rates within dual-use building sets
  11. Other minor corrections and enhancements
