Pollution Prevention

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Pollution Prevention (P2) Program is dedicated to helping its staff prevent or minimize all pollutants (non-hazardous, hazardous, radioactive, etc.) to all media (air emissions, liquid effluents, and solid waste). The P2 Program also looks for opportunities for resource conservation, recycling, energy efficiency, water conservation, and purchasing environmentally preferable products and services.

The P2 Program at Pacific Northwest provides a wide range of pollution prevention services from operating the office waste recycling program to providing technical P2 assistance to laboratory researchers. The scope of the program also includes the compliance aspects of pollution prevention such as reporting progress to the regulating agencies.
