A municipal corporation with a geographic area of approximately 22 sq. miles including many very large parcels (hundreds of acres) of commercial zoned land. City staff works closely with the Port of Kennewick, West Richland Chamber of Commerce, TRIDEC and the Benton Franklin Council of Governments to assist small businesses and new industry in identifying locations to develop; identifying federal, state and other grants; and in holding pre-development/construction conferences and tours.
The city offers grant writing services, in some cases, to assist industrial and commercial businesses with strong job-creation potential to obtain grant funding. West Richland has an excellent track record; the City has successfully obtained State and Federal funding in the past which has been used to benefit businesses.
The City will provide information, resources, and assistance for industrial and retail development within the city. The City has Economic Development program staff who can work directly with small businesses for personal assistance and connection with partnering agencies and groups that can provide additional services and information.
The City evaluates industrial proposals in light of its comprehensive plan, zoning and building ordinances.
The City actively markets commercial and industrial properties for business relocation and expansion. In addition to privately –owned available sites, there are also several "shovel-ready" sites available in the City that are owned by the Port of Kennewick or the City of West Richland; contact city staff to learn more about these opportunities.
