PNNL named Energy Frontier Research Center


Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Wash., has been named as an Energy Frontier Research Center by the Department of Energy. DOE awarded a total of $377 million to fund 46 centers at universities, national laboratories, nonprofit organizations, and private firms across the nation. The funding is an effort to accelerate the scientific breakthroughs needed to build a new 21st-century energy economy. PNNL received $22.5 million for the first year of the five-year program.
