AREVA earns long-term license renewal
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued a 40-year operating license renewal to AREVA's fuel fabrication facility located in Richland, Wash. This is the first time a renewal of this duration has been granted following the Commission's decision in 2006 to extend the maximum license term from 20 years up to 40. The license includes safety programs for special nuclear materials handling processes, including criticality safety, fire protection and emergency preparedness. The Richland facility fabricates uranium fuel for pressurized and boiling water reactors and creates new fuel designs. Contact Judith Thomas at 509-375-8451.
