*InnovaTek lands funding for a biomass power plant

The Department of Energy awarded a $100,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research contract to InnovaTek, Richland, Wash., to develop a non-food, biomass-based power plant that will use InnovaTek's proprietary steam-reforming technology and catalysts with a solid-oxide fuel cell to generate distributed power in the range from three to 30 kilowatts. Bio-derived fuels can help displace natural gas, help meet emissions standards, and address fuel availability concerns. Contact at (509) 375-1093, ext. 222.
