Four recent graduates of the Washington State University Tri-Cities MBA program received a second-place award at recent competition for an innovative business plan.
Jennifer Betker and Larry Smith, who are employees of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Walter Timmons and Steve Luten got the award at a WSU business plan competition.
Their plan involved commercializing in-line fluid analysis technology, which was developed at PNNL.
The technology is designed to save consumers time and money by looking for contaminants in vehicle lubricants.
The students proposed using the technology to prevent truckers from changing their oil more than necessary.
The team was part of PNNL's Technology Entrepreneurship Program.
