Biography

DR. JASON TOMLINSON is the Director of Engineering for the U.S. Department of Energy's Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Aerial Facility (AAF), which operates manned and unmanned aircraft to answer science questions proposed by the atmospheric research community. He is currently the technical lead on a $9 million DOE project to modify a Bombardier Challenger 850 into an atmospheric research aircraft. Dr. Jason Tomlinson is an expert in airborne atmospheric instrumentation and measurement techniques. He has been involved as a payload scientist and participant in fourteen field campaigns since joining PNNL in 2008. He has served as the director for the National Science Foundation Interagency Coordinating Committee for Airborne Geosciences Research and Applications (ICCAGRA) for three years and has represented DOE AAF for the past decade. His primary area of research is the interaction between aerosol and clouds along with instrumentation design. He is an author on 36 peer-reviewed journal publications. Dr. Tomlinson received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Texas A&M University in 2010.
