Community Model (WRF-Chem): Code Maintenance

The Subversion (SVN) version control system is used to maintain a record of the changes in WRF-Chem as developers improve the model. Developers check out a copy of the code, make their changes, and then make a log entry explaining what they did when committing their changes back to the SVN server. This provides documentation that can be used to later understand why the model results differ and allows one to retrieve earlier versions of the model as needed. As depicted below, the code in the Aerosol Modeling Testbed is a "branch" of the standard WRF-Chem code and each user has their own "branch". This structure also permits code developed in the Aerosol Modeling Testbed to be distributed to others if desired.

WRF-Chem Version 3.1 (April 2009). Code version control is maintained using SubVersion (SVN).
