Gostomel is a private, profitable manufacturer of glass bottles and containers in the Kiev region of Ukraine. As a result this project, Gostomel has invested over $750,000 to insulate steam piping, install heat recovery units and improve power factor. Gostomel is also receiving an additional $380,000 in financing for efficient compressors from UkrEsco, the first Ukrainian energy services company, and will soon sign a contract for $3.5 million in equity financing for a new glass furnace from the Western NIS Enterprise Fund. PNNL and its partners, the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Center (ARENA-ECO) and Industrial Real Estate have worked with Gostomel to develop energy efficiency measures and structure the financing for these measures. This work is part of a larger Industrial Energy Efficiency Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Agency for International Development.
